As part of LUG ongoing commitment to preparing students for the competitive job market, our Careers and Internship Placement unit recently organized a practical mock interview session. This initiative aimed to provide students with invaluable real-world experience and constructive feedback to enhance their professional readiness.
Held on the 7th of May 2024, the event simulated authentic interview scenarios tailored to students’ respective fields of study. Before the session, students received comprehensive guidelines on interview preparation, emphasizing research on target companies, the practice of common interview questions, and appropriate professional attire.
Each student was allocated a specific time slot for their interview, during which they faced a panel of interviewers. Questions posed assessed students’ problem-solving abilities, communication skills, and overall demeanor, mirroring the challenges of actual job interviews.
Following each interview, students received immediate feedback and personalized suggestions for improvement from the panelists. This feedback, both affirming strengths and pinpointing areas for growth, served as a valuable learning tool for students to refine their interview techniques.
Mr. Prince Afoani Baah, the Coordinator of Careers and Internship Placement, emphasized the significance of such mock interview sessions in student development. “We aim to instill confidence and readiness in our students as they transition into the professional world,” he remarked. “By providing hands-on experiences that closely replicate real-world scenarios, we equip our graduates with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in their chosen fields.”
