We are delighted to announce that on October 1, 2021, we will relocate our campus from the A&C Mall, Jungle Road, East-Legon, Accra, to Tantra-Hill, Accra.
State-of-the-art
The new campus boasts of a free fibre broadband connection throughout the facility and a selection of state-of-the-art learning spaces and classrooms that are equipped with interactive systems designed to enhance student visualisation and creativity, and further provide innovative learning experiences for them.
Therefore, in addition to conventional classrooms, there are Smart Classrooms with Smart Boards to facilitate group-based learning as well as idea generation and sharing among students and faculty.
Professor Dr. Franco Gandolfi, CEO of Transnational Academic Group (TAG), West Africa says ‘’I am extremely pleased that we will be moving into our new campus just in time for the October 2021/2022 Academic Year. This new facility – a purpose-built university – will provide a wonderful academic home for our current and prospective students and an enabling work environment for our esteemed employees’’. The Lancaster University Ghana campus relocation is definitely a game changer in the higher education environment in Ghana and we are looking forward with much excitement to serving the people of West Africa for decades to come.
Hub for knowledge
In line with the Transnational Africa Group (TAG)’s mission to develop the people who develop nations, the campus has a modern library with over 135,000 online resources and comfortable workspaces where students can study and access these resources.
This is reiterated by our Provost, Professor Malcolm McIver, who says, ‘’the move to the new campus at Tantra Hills represents a substantial investment on the part of the Transnational Academic Group (TAG) and further demonstrates the commitment of both TAG & Lancaster University Ghana to education here in Ghana and across West Africa. I am truly pleased with the new and innovative learning opportunities for interactive, collaborative, and real-time blended learning the new campus will provide.’’
This is indeed an exciting time for the students and staff of LUG as we embark on the next stage of our development and continue our quest to provide the best possible educational experience for students in Ghana and beyond.
Multi-purpose facility
Although the development process of the facility is in phases, the new Lancaster University Ghana campus will also have an on-site cafeteria, which will offer a variety of food and beverages for students, staff, and visitors as well as a multi-purpose sports complex designed for the recreational needs of the LUG community. There will also be an on-site clinic and a range of retail outlets including a bookstore and a beauty parlour.
Students’ welfare
In addition to the continued observation and strict enforcement of COVID-19 protocols, there is a focus on ensuring the comprehensive welfare of our students; so, our new campus design is fused with social facilities that offer students safe accommodation, and those important extracurricular activities that are an integral part of their experience. There is on-site Hostel accommodation for both male and female students, a dedicated breakout area, where students can relax, rejuvenate, and socialize, as well as dedicated prayer rooms for students and staff.
