The premier edition of the yet to be annual inter-high school debate organized by the student representative council of Lancaster University Ghana (LSGS) was held on 23 March, 2022. The inter–high school debate is an initiate of the student representative council to promote and enhance the indispensable skills of self-expression, public speaking and critical thinking amongst tomorrow’s change-makers.
The debate competition brought together the finest students from Galaxy International High School and Presbyterian Boys Senior High School (PRESEC – Legon). The topic for the debate was “This house regrets the rise of Xenotransplantation”. The competition was adjudicated by two Lecturers; Dr. Francis Atta and Mr. Victor Brobbey Esq and the head Librarian; Ms. Majorine Kitcher of Lancaster University Ghana.
Galaxy International High School stood against the motion and was represented by Yasmin Muftawa Jawula, Nana Kwabena Nimako and Miriam Makuviah Washington and standing for the motion, Presbyterian Boys Senior High School was represented by Agyapong Matthew Wiredu, Henaku Kwasi and Henaku – Budu Jedidiah.
At the end of the competition, Presbyterian Boys Senior High School was adjudged winners of the Debate competition and Henaku Kwasi from PRESEC was awarded best speaker of the competition.
Speaking at the competition, the provost of Lancaster University Ghana, Dr. Emmanuel Arthur, urged the students to keep up their good work and commended them for stepping up to represent their schools. Dr. Arthur encouraged all students present to study hard as they are the future.
