Lancaster University Ghana (LUG) was among the sponsors of the 2015 West African regional finals of the All Africa Business Leaders Awards (AABLA). The AABLA is the premier business awards on the continent. The awards have been created to identify and honour those leaders who are making a difference through innovation and inspiration in their industry sectors. 

Launched in 2011, the AABLA expanded regionally on the African continent into West, East and Southern Africa; all culminating into a grand finale in South Africa. The year 2012, saw the successful roll out of the awards on the African continent, and 2015 will be the fourth annual regional awards for AABLA. This event will give you an opportunity to interact with high-end individuals and Top CEOs in West Africa.
 

“Today’s students are tomorrow’s leaders” Prof John Grainger (Provost, Lancaster University Ghana) said in the welcome address delivered on behalf of Rakesh Wahi (Co-Chairman, Transnational Education Africa). 
 

Lancaster University Ghana was proud to present an award to #AABLA2015 Young Business Leader of the Year (GiftedMom). GiftedMom is the first mobile health platform in Central Africa, which uses low cost technologies to improve the health conditions of pregnant women and new borns in under served and disconnected communities.

 

 

Another award was presented to the Philanthropist of the Year (Fred Swaniker, African Leadership Academy). Fred is deeply passionate about Africa and believes that the missing ingredient on the continent is good leadership. In line with this, he has founded two organizations that aim to catalyze a new generation of ethical, entrepreneurial African leaders: African Leadership Academy and the African Leadership Network.
