In a bid to tackle environmental degradation and promote responsible waste management, a group of students from LUG embarked on an innovative project. As part of the academic requirements for the ‘Introduction to Project Management’ module in the Foundation Program, this initiative aimed to revolutionize recycling within our campus.
The primary objective of the project was to establish an environmentally sustainable and efficient recycling system, addressing the pressing need to counteract the consequences of waste accumulation. Recognizing the urgency of the global environmental crisis, the students took proactive steps to mitigate the impact of waste on our planet.
At the forefront of their initiative was the organization of a fundraiser event designed to generate funds for the acquisition of “Plastic Receptacle Bins” for the university. These bins will serve as dedicated containers for the storage of plastics, which will be subsequently collected by designated haulers or self-haulers.
One of the participants Shawn Ankobiah shared his experience stating, “Steering through cultural mazes, budgetary storms, and communication turbulence, my journey as a project manager was a thrilling rollercoaster ride. With resilience as our compass, we conquered every obstacle, turning adversity into triumph. Against all odds, our project soared to majestic heights, a testament to the power of perseverance and teamwork.”
At LUG, we stand for sustainable practices, and this initiative exemplifies our commitment to creating a greener and more environmentally conscious community.
