Saturday, 19th October was a day set aside for our annual the Lancaster Provost and Community Awards on campus. 

This formal event brings together faculty, administrative staff, and students to celebrate the academic, leadership and sports achievements of our foundation and undergraduate students, and is organized by the Student Affairs Department on behalf of the Office of the Provost.

The Awards had our outgoing SRC President, Kwabena Osei-Bonsu as Master of Ceremonies, and began with a welcome address by our Deputy-Provost, Dr Cynthia Forson who thanked the community for coming together to celebrate outstanding students. She also spoke on leadership and citizenship as attributes to be emulated and hence awarded at Lancaster University Ghana.

The newly elected Student Representative Council (SRC) for the 2019/2020 academic year were introduced and formally inaugurated. The new executives are: 

President – Oritsejolomi Gbenebiche 

Vice-President – Fanissatou Tchagbele 

Welfare Officer – Ewura Ama Thompson

Clubs & Societies Coordinator – Roland Lamptey

Academic Officer – Judith Annoh 

Finance Officer – Kelvin Dorkunor 

Communication Officer – Rashida Olass 

International Student Officer – Diwan Oulai 

Secretary – Dazzle Akpamgbo

   

The new president then gave his state of the school address and on behalf of the council also pledged his support to fulfill the responsibilities outlined in Lancaster Ghana Student Council constitution.

Following this 6 students from our October Foundation intake, and 5 from our January intake were recognized for making it onto the Provost’s List. This Award recognizes students with an AAB average at the foundation level. Certificates were also presented to 26 undergraduate students, for excellence in their academics. Additionally Andrews Lartey received the Leadership Award, Abir Abdul Malek received the Citizenship Award and Tosin Ademola received the Community Leader Award. 

The night featured performances from guest artistes including Wxlf Thang and alumnus Peter Peregbakumo (Oniisha), who performed songs from his recently released Tari EP, while the guests had a lovely dinner. Click here to view some pictures from the event.
