Selection Criteria

Innovation & Originality

These are the primary benchmarks for success. Judges will look for concepts that go beyond mere novelty to offer practical, value-added solutions. Originality should define your unique identity and set you apart from competitors, as innovation is the process of translating that creative spark into a viable product or service. Unique innovation must be both new and useful, solving real-world problems more effectively than current market offerings. Whether it’s a radical breakthrough or an incremental improvement, your idea should demonstrate a clear competitive advantage and the potential for sustainable growth.

Market Potential

Market potential is a critical metric in entrepreneurial competitions, as it proves your idea can transition from a concept to a thriving business. Judges evaluate your segments and target markets to understand the overall opportunity to gauge your realistic reach. A strong proposal demonstrates a deep understanding of target demographics, clear pain points, and current market trends. You must show evidence of demand and a scalable business model that can capture and retain customers. Ultimately, high market potential signals to investors that your innovation is not just clever, but financially viable, sustainable and ready for growth.

Feasibility

Feasibility assesses whether your entrepreneurial idea can actually be executed with the resources available. In a competition, judges look past the “what” to the “how,” evaluating your technical capability, financial requirements, and operational roadmap. A feasible idea isn’t just a dream; it’s a plan backed by a realistic timeline and a team with the right skills to deliver. You must demonstrate that your product or service costs are manageable, and legal or regulatory hurdles are cleared. High feasibility reduces perceived risk, proving that your innovation is practically achievable and ready for implementation

Impact

Impact measures the meaningful difference your venture makes beyond financial profit. In competitions, judges evaluate how your idea addresses social, environmental, or economic challenges. High-impact projects don’t just sell a product; they create a ripple effect, improving lives, reducing waste, or empowering underserved communities. A strong impact statement proves your business is a force for good, aligning with global sustainability goals and appealing to the customer segment growing and impact investors.

Team Capability

Team Capability is the engine that drives an idea to fruition. In a competition, judges evaluate whether your team possesses the right mix of technical expertise, business acumen, and soft skills to navigate the startup journey. We will look out for talented teams who can pivot a mediocre idea into a success with their brilliant concept. Your pitch must highlight relevant past experiences, specialized knowledge, and a cohesive culture that handles pressure. Demonstrating a clear division of roles and a shared vision proves that you have the resilience and skill set to execute the project effectively.

Sustainability

Sustainability focuses on a venture’s ability to endure and thrive over the long term. In an entrepreneurial competition, this encompasses both financial viability and environmental responsibility. Judges look for a robust business model that can generate consistent revenue while minimizing its ecological footprint. A sustainable idea isn’t just a one-time success; it is built to survive market shifts and resource constraints. You have to demonstrate how your operations align with circular economy principles like environmental, social and government standards, explaining how you can scale without depleting essential resources or harming the planet.
