Admissions & Entry Requirements questions

a. What are the entry requirements for WASSCE/SSCE students?
Ans: Minimum of C6 in six subjects, three core and three electives (English & Maths Compulsory)

b. I have A-Levels, what grades do I need for direct entry into an undergraduate programme?
Ans: Minimum of three Cs in all programmes (Law & Computer Science ‘ABB)

c. Does LUG accept the International Baccalaureate (IB) or French Baccalaureate?
Ans: YES

d. What is the Foundation Programme, and who is required to take it?
Ans: It is a one-year pathway course into the undergraduate programme and also for students who don’t meet the entry requirements for direct entry.

e. Can I apply with a Mature Student status if I don’t meet the standard requirements?
Ans: YES, for persons 25 years and above.

f. Are there specific subject requirements for the Law or Computer Science programmes?
Ans: Computer Science students should have one physical science subject.

g. Does LUG require an English proficiency test like IELTS or TOEFL for Ghanaian students?
Ans: These are used as supplementary for low grades in English requirements.

h. I am an international student from a non-English speaking country; what are my language requirements
Ans: Proof of English proficiency in previous/current qualification

Application Process

a. How do I apply to Lancaster University Ghana?
Ans: Through the link on our website, walk-in or a phone call.

b. When are the application deadlines?
Ans: Applications are open throughout the year with two major intakes (October & January)

c. Is there an application fee?
Ans: NO

d. What are the application deadlines for the October and January intakes?
Ans: Mid-August for October intake and Mid December for January intake.

e. How long does it take to process an application?
Ans: Five working days

f. How will I know if my application is successful?
Ans: An offer letter will be issued.

g. Can I apply online?
Ans: YES, on our website

h. What should I do after receiving an offer?
Ans: Confirm details of the offer and proceed to accept by signing off and making the tuition fee deposit

a. What undergraduate programmes are offered at LUG?

b. Are postgraduate programmes available?
Ans: Currently No

c. What is the duration of each programme?
Ans: Three years for all undergraduate and one year for our Foundation programmes.

d. Are the courses accredited in Ghana and internationally?

e. What is the teaching style at LUG?
Ans: A blend of theoretical and practical learning.

f. How are students assessed (exams, coursework, projects)?
Ans: Blend of all (exams, coursework, projects)

g. Are there opportunities for interdisciplinary study?
Ans: Yes, but non-scoring

h. Can I change my programme after enrolling?
Ans: Yes, once within the time frame for change of programme

i. What support is available for academic success?
Ans: An academic service department is set to handle student’s academic journey

j. Who are the lecturers and what are their qualifications?
Ans: Our faculty are trained to international standards.

Fees & Finance

Tuition Fees & Scholarships

a. What are the current tuition fees for the programs at LUG?
Ans: $7,000 (or cedi equivalent) for Foundation and $9,000 (or cedi equivalent) for Undergraduate per academic year.

b. How much do postgraduate programmes cost per year?
Ans: currently no postgraduate programme is being run [IA1]

c. Are there different fees for Ghanaian and international students?
Ans: Fees are the same for all nationalities.

d. What payment plans or instalment options are available for tuition?
Ans: Payment of at least 70% of the net tuition or personalised payment plans tailored to individual cases.

e. What scholarships are available for students?
Ans: Financial aid, academic merit and change/community service scholarships. Also, we have partnered KGL Foundation to offer additional scholarships for girls in STEM.

f. Are there merit-based or need-based scholarships for Ghanaian students?
Ans: Yes. Scholarships are available for all students.

g. Do international students qualify for any scholarships or financial aid?
Ans: Yes. Scholarships are available for all students.

h. What is the cost of living for students on campus?
Ans: Average USD650 per month (including accommodation)

i. Are there bursaries or loans available for students from low-income families?
Ans: Yes, we have partnered with KGL Foundation to offer an enhanced support for such families.

j. How do I apply for scholarships, and what are the deadlines?
Ans: Application forms are available online and through our Admissions office.

k. Does the university offer fee waivers for top-performing students?
Ans: Yes, students who applied for scholarships on academic merit are eligible for this type of scholarship

Campus Facilities

a. What facilities are available on campus?
Ans: LUG offers a comprehensive range of academic, recreational, and support facilities designed to enrich student life:

On-Campus Accommodation (Hostels)

a. Does LUG provide on-campus accommodation?
Ans: Yes. LUG currently offers on-campus hostel accommodation for up to 86 residents. All rooms are en-suite and come furnished with a cot, mattress, study table, chair, and cabinets. Each room is equipped with an air conditioner, refrigerator, and fan. Residents also benefit from:
• 24/7 Wi-Fi connectivity
• 24/7 electricity with generator backup
• 24/7 water supply

b. What room configurations are available?
Ans: Students may choose from the following room types, subject to availability:
• Single occupancy (1-in-a-room) standard
• Single occupancy with Balcony (1-in-a-room with Balcony)
• Double occupancy (2-in-a-room)
• Triple occupancy (3-in-a-room)
• Quad occupancy (4-in-a-room)

Room availability is not guaranteed and is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to eligibility criteria.

c. How much does on-campus student housing cost?
Ans: Current pricing and eligibility information is available on the LUG website at

Fees are reviewed periodically and are subject to change. The University reserves the right to adjust pricing without prior notice. Please confirm current rates before making any commitment.

Off-Campus Housing

a. Are there off-campus housing options available?
Ans: Yes. LUG maintains a directory of over 22 private property owners, management companies, and housing managers in the vicinity of the campus. This provides students with access to a wider pool of accommodation options beyond the campus hostels.

Off-campus properties are privately owned and operated. LUG and TAG do not endorse, manage, or guarantee the quality, safety, or terms of any off-campus accommodation. Students engage with off-campus providers at their own discretion and should conduct independent due diligence before entering any rental agreement.

Safety & Security

a. What safety measures are in place in LUG hostels?
Ans
i. The University takes the safety of its residents seriously. Current safety provisions include:
• Fire alarm system and fire extinguishers installed throughout the hostel
• CCTV surveillance in common areas and building exteriors
• Adequate area lighting
• Security guards on duty day and night
• Regular patrols by university-deployed guards at night
• Periodic patrols by the Ghana Police Service
• A Residents’ Handbook containing rules and regulations, issued to all residents upon check-in

ii. Safety measures are subject to review and improvement over time. No security system can guarantee absolute safety, and residents are encouraged to observe all guidelines in the Residents’ Handbook and report any concerns to university security or management promptly.

Dining & Catering

a. Are there dining and cafeteria services on campus?
Ans
i. Yes. The campus cafeteria (75-seater capacity) operates 365 days a year, from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Additional food options include:
• Customized meal plans available from the cafeteria
• Student entrepreneurs offering food and snacks on campus
• A convenience store for everyday needs
• One vending machine dispensing snacks, food items, juices, water, and other beverages

ii. Cafeteria hours, menu options, and pricing are subject to change. The University does not guarantee the continuous availability of all food vendors or vending machines at all times.

Library & Study Spaces

a. Is there access to libraries and study spaces?
Ans
i. Yes. The LUG Library is open on weekdays from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with extended hours until 9:00 PM during examination periods. Additionally:
• A 40-seater classroom is made available throughout the year for after-hours self-study
• Additional classrooms are made available for after-hours study during exam season

ii. Library hours are subject to change based on the academic calendar, public holidays, and operational requirements. Students are encouraged to check the academic calendar or the library notice board for up-to-date hours.

IT & Digital Resources

a. What IT and digital resources are available to students?
Ans
i. For detailed and up-to-date information on IT infrastructure, software access, computing labs, and digital resources available to students, please contact the IT Department directly or visit the student portal.

ii. IT resources and policies are managed separately by the IT Department and are subject to periodic updates.

Transport Services

a. Are there transport services available for students?
i. LUG currently offers the following transport-related support:
• Airport pickup for new (fresher) students arriving for the October and January intakes
• A shuttle service connecting the campus with surrounding areas is being introduced on a trial basis in the next Academic Year and will operate on a paid basis
• Transport is provided for all student activities outside campus

ii. Transport services are subject to availability, scheduling, and operational constraints. The shuttle trial does not guarantee permanent service. LUG and TAG accept no liability for delays, cancellations, or any inconvenience arising from transport services or changes thereto.

c) Do employers recognise LUG degrees globally?
Yes, LUG degree is awarded by Lancaster University (UK) and is globally recognised, accepted, and respected by employers worldwide.

d) Are there career fairs or networking events?
Yes, LUG organizes career fair annually alongside regular employer engagement sessions and networking events through employability workshops and info sessions with our highly reputable corporate partners.

e) Does LUG provide CV writing and interview preparation support?
Yes. The Careers Office provides tailored CV reviews, mock interviews, and employability workshops to prepare students for the job market.
