In February 2014, Lancaster University Ghana conducted a successful one day workshop with high school counsellors as part of our efforts to support their professional development. The workshop served as a platform to understand the role of counsellors and find solutions to the challenges facing them.|
The workshop on the theme “Building Relationships between Counsellors” brought together 65 counsellors from 17 senior high schools across the regions of Greater Accra, Central Region and Western Region. Lancaster University Ghana recognises the invaluable role high school counsellors play in guiding the career choices of students and, as part of the University’s community engagement activities, we strongly believe in providing professional development opportunities for them. Following positive feedback from counsellors, the university is hoping to extend the initiative to other regions of the country. Counsellors were appreciative of our outreach activity and our efforts to provide professional development opportunities.
