The Lancaster Dream Team Basketball Scouting Camp 2015 was just held on Saturday May 30th 2015.  The camp saw 10 participants from 9 high schools.  The recruits were nominated as the best basketball players by the following high schools: Holy Child Senior High School, Opoku Ware Senior High School,  Mfantsipim Senior High School, St.Roses Senior High School, Adisadel Senior High School, Aggrey Memorial Senior High School, St.Roses Senior High School, Pope Johns Senior High School, and Akosombo International School. 
 

The purpose of the camp was to scout and select Ghana’s top potential basketball players for Lancaster Sports Scholarships.  The camp was a collaborative event held between the Student Affairs Department and Admissions department to scout Lancaster’s future sports leaders.  The camp was headed by Lancaster Basketball coach Mr.Steve Scott Honger with support from Lancaster Blazers team captain Clarence Coleman and sportsmen Christopher James Dada and Daniel Kwame Ametepey.  

The scouting session featured three hours of intense basic training and matches.  After careful consideration of the speed, accuracy, ball sense and potential of the players, the coach select 2 Male and 2 Female participants to receive Lancaster Sports Scholarships valued at 30% of the tuition. The two male recipients were Michael Jamani Salifu of Mfantsipim Senior High School and Joseph Adomako of Opoku Ware Senior high school. The two female scholarship recipients were Jessica Twumasi Ankrah of Aburi Girls Senior High School and Frances Jane Van Alstyne of Aggrey Memorial Senior High School. All other participants received a 10% scholarship as the coach was generally impressed with the level of play.

 Next years and other subsequent camps promise to be bigger and better!
