The Lancaster University Ghana Football League (LUGFL) was founded two years ago with the aim of fostering relationships between staff and students, and encouraging professionalism and discipline amongst the University’s sports clubs and students in general. Staff members are actively involved in the league, with some them serving as managers of some clubs.
 
The competition is currently in its 3rd season and host six teams: Skylars F.C, Phoenix F.C, Atletico F.C, Mercurials F.C, Czars F.C and Lanstars F.C.
 
In the just concluded season, Skylars F.C won their second consecutive title.
 
On 28th October 2016, the league awarded students who have performed remarkably well in the 2015/2016 season. This event also saw outgoing President, Balogun Abdul Razaq handing over to the incoming LUGFL President, Godfred Omari. The following students were awarded for their brilliance and exuberance in the just concluded season.
