Lancaster University Ghana (LUG) hosted Hon. Akwetey Agbo, Municipal Chief Executive of the Ga North Municipal Assembly, at its campus in a visit focused on deepening collaboration between the University and the local community.

Welcomed by members of the university’s management team, Hon. Agbo’s visit centered on discussions around student safety, community development, and empowering youth and women through skills-based initiatives. Both parties expressed a shared commitment to building sustainable partnerships that extend the impact of education beyond the classroom.

A key highlight of the discussions was enhancing security within the area, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for both students and residents. Hon. Agbo praised the university for its proactive approach to student welfare and pledged the Assembly’s support in fostering a secure and thriving academic community.

During a guided tour of the campus, the MCE visited the University Library, Moot Court, Student Breakout Area, and other academic spaces. He commended Lancaster University Ghana for its world-class infrastructure and serene learning environment, noting that he was “pleasantly surprised by the level of investment and excellence” demonstrated on campus.

Beyond security, the visit also explored opportunities for collaborative community development projects, including technical and digital skills training for women and youth within the municipality. This initiative aligns with LUG’s broader vision of equipping individuals with practical skills to thrive in an increasingly digital and innovation-driven economy.

Hon. Agbo reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to partnering with Lancaster University Ghana in advancing education, skills development, and local impact. “This partnership represents a powerful model of how academia and government can work together to strengthen communities,” he remarked.

The visit underscores Lancaster University Ghana’s dedication to fostering meaningful relationships with local authorities, ensuring that the university remains a driving force for positive change and inclusive development in the Ga North Municipality and beyond.
