Lancaster Ghana’s Provost and Community Awards recognizes students who have exhibited an extraordinary level of intellectual engagement and academic achievement throughout the academic year.
The winners of this award have demonstrated outstanding academic performance, exemplary leadership, engagement in sporting activities, and have made contributions to civic life on campus and beyond.
On Friday, 10th March 2023, the annual Lancaster Provost and Community Awards was held at the multi-purpose hall on Lancaster Ghana’s campus to celebrate excellence within the community.
“I’m delighted to see you all here for one of the most anticipated events of the school year. As we strive for excellence in our community, it is important we celebrate and encourage those striving to get there.” said Professor Malcolm McIver, CEO of Lancaster University Ghana in his opening address to the gathering. “That’s exactly what the Lancaster Provost and Community Awards seeks to achieve”.
The evening which was filled with cheers, claps and proud moments was interspersed with the induction of the Student Council executives for the 2022/2023 academic year and culminated with an exquisite performance by one of our students.
In his closing remarks, Dr Emmanuel Arther stated, “Congratulations to all award winners for living exemplary lives and inspiring the entire Lancaster Ghana community.” He also added that, “The joy of me and management will be that you will not rest. You would continue with this attitude of excellence until your graduation and in your lives beyond Lancaster.”
Moments that defined the evening
- Samuella Asare-Kodua ‘26, Terence Nwachinemere Onyejiaku ‘25, Hamaras Adam Hasan ‘24 and David Bereibibo Bristol-Alagbariya ‘23 won the Star of the Year award for their respective year groups. The Star of the Year award is presented to foundation and undergraduate students who obtained the highest average marks for the 2021/2022 academic year
- Four students received the Citizenship Award for having embodied and practiced the Lancaster values wholeheartedly. The recipients of the award were: Danielle Nzambo for being the aerobics Lead for Lancaster Ghana’s fitness club, William Adjei for being the lead graphic designer for all students events, Amfoh Isaac Kojo Mensah for Google Developer Lead at Lancaster University Ghana and Asare-Kodua Stephanie for being the lead photographer for all student events.
- Another record-breaker: At the Lancaster Provost and Community night, twelve students received the leadership award having demonstrated strong leadership characteristics and academic excellence and have also served as role models for the student body and the University community through their overall positive attitude and exemplary lives.
- The media club won the community award for being the club which has had the most positive influence on the student body as well as solidified its relevance to the student body and the community in general.
