Every year, we welcome students from diverse backgrounds to join our amazing Lancaster University Ghana community. This year on 3rd October, 2022 we were glad to officially open our doors to over seventy students to begin their undergraduate journey with us.
To officially welcome the class of 2025 and 2026 to campus, a commencement ceremony was held on Friday, 14th October 2022 for our new starters who are projected to successfully complete their degree by the end of their scheduled academic year.
The ceremony which took place at the multi – purpose hall of Lancaster University Ghana’s TAG Ghana campus began with a welcome address by the Provost, Dr. Emmanuel Arthur. “We pride ourselves as an institution that is recognized all over the world for providing world-class education and therefore, we deem it as a privilege to have you all join the numerous students at Lancaster University Ghana pursing different degree programmes” he stated.
“Indeed, you have chosen one of the best universities in Ghana” stated the Deputy-Provost Dr. Cynthia Forson. She further added that “the support we provide at Lancaster University Ghana to enable our students start, transition and complete their degrees is second to none in Ghana”.
The heads of the various faculties on campus: Business, Computer Science, Law and Politics, Philosophy and Religion gave an overview of their departments and assured students of the support every department offers to ensure that students make the most of their undergraduate journey here.
In a speech by the SRC President at the ceremony, Kwame Casey Gyau encouraged all freshmen to be excellent in everything they do and assured them that they have joined a vibrant and diverse community of students that provides a fantastic support network and numerous activities to ensure their stay is an enjoyable one.
Speaking on students’ expectation for their undergraduate experience here on campus, Samuella Asare-Kodua, a freshman foundation student mentioned that “I am truly glad to finally be a part of the distinguished Lancaster University Ghana community”. She added that, “our expectations as freshmen are to gain a deeper understanding of our programmes of study, develop practical skills and enhance our employability”. In concluding her speech, Samuella stated that “my advice to my fellow colleagues is to have a nice campus experience, be dedicated to hard work and attend all lectures in order to achieve the best of success”.
In his closing remarks, the Provost, Dr. Emmanuel Arthur stated that, “this is the start of a very great journey for all of you, and I wish you every success in your time with us and beyond”.
The ceremony featured a musical performance by some members of Lancaster University Ghana’s Music Club and was followed by a celebratory dinner and dance.
