Law Week 2026 brought together students, legal experts, and thought leaders through a variety of dynamic activities aimed at broadening perspectives on the legal profession and equipping students for the future of law.
The week began with Advocates Unfiltered, an engaging and relatable session featuring young legal professionals, including LUG alumni. The discussion offered honest insights into life as a lawyer, the realities of legal education, and the transition into practice. The interactive format encouraged open dialogue and meaningful networking between students and speakers.
Next, we had the Pink Courtroom, a lively and creative take on the traditional moot court. Led by students, the session combined legal reasoning with humour and real-life scenarios, highlighting the human side of law.
Later that day, students attended A Time with the Legend, featuring renowned legal figure Dr. Nana Susubiribi Krobea Asante. As a key contributor to Ghana’s 1992 Constitution, his reflections on law, leadership, and national development provided invaluable inspiration.
Law Week also featured a formal Moot Court session, presided over by Justice Ayitey Armah-Tetteh, allowing students to demonstrate their advocacy and courtroom skills in a realistic legal setting.
A visit to the historic James Fort Prison offered students a deeper understanding of Ghana’s legal and political history. The experience highlighted the realities of justice, human rights, and the country’s journey to independence, making it both educational and reflective.
Our Law Dinner concluded the week’s celebration. It was a vibrant evening of networking and recognition. Beyond the entertainment, the event reflected the growth of the Law Society and its commitment to building a strong legal community at LUG.
Overall, Law Week 2026 successfully combined learning, engagement, and practical exposure. From insightful discussions to hands-on legal experiences, the event showcased the talent and potential within the Faculty of Law while reinforcing Lancaster University Ghana’s commitment to developing future-ready legal professionals.
