We are honored to have Diane E. Kaye, Esq., as our alumni Speaker for this year’s graduation ceremony at Lancaster University Ghana. Diane, a distinguished legal professional, was called to the Ghanaian Bar in October 2023.
A product of Wesley Girls’ High School, Diane pursued her master’s in international and foreign Comparative Law at Penn State University after graduating from Lancaster. She practices law at N. Dowuona & Company, a top-tier legal firm in Ghana, where she applies her expertise in legal research, project management, and international development. Diane’s passion for women’s empowerment is evident through her advocacy efforts and her active involvement in events focused on advancing women’s rights.
In August 2023, Diane participated in a focus group in Kigali, Rwanda, where she addressed Africa’s migration crisis. Her role as a panel speaker highlighted the importance of safeguarding migrant health, reflecting her dedication to humanitarian causes in addition to her legal career. She has also published a paper in the Ghana School of Law Student Journal on the Universality of Human Rights.
Before entering the legal profession, Diane worked for an international organization that focused on enhancing economic opportunities for women and children across Ghana. Her keen interest in the intersection of law and business is reflected in her goal to provide strategic legal counsel, particularly to women-led businesses and SMEs.
During her time at Lancaster University Ghana, Diane made significant contributions to the student community. In her first year, she served as an Assistant International Students Officer and later as an SRC Welfare Officer in 2016/2017. She went on to serve as the Vice President of the Lancaster University Ghana Law Society. Diane’s outstanding academic and community involvement earned her a place on the Provost List each year of her studies, and she graduated with First Class Honors in 2018.
In recognition of her exceptional leadership and service, Diane received two major awards at the 2018 Lancaster University Ghana graduation: the Lancaster Award (Gold) and the Founders Award. She was also the first recipient of the Lancaster Citizenship Award, which honors students who embody the university’s values of service and community engagement.
Diane E. Kaye’s journey is an inspiration to all, and we are thrilled to welcome her back to Lancaster University Ghana as this year’s Alumni Speaker.
