Mr. Fredrick Boafo completed his BSc and MPhil. programme in Computer Science from the University of Ghana (Legon) where he won the best Teaching Assistant Award in the department. He holds an IBM Academic Certificate (M.A.D Mastery Award), from IBM Middle East and Africa.
He holds Certificates in Web App Development from Advanced Information Technology Institute (Ghana-India Kofi Annan Center of Excellence in ICT and Information Security), and Ethical Hacking & Information Security from the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (UG) in collaboration with the Department of Computer Science. He participated in the Entrepreneurship Development Programme organised by Babson College-USA in Sekondi and holds a double certificate in the programme.
His areas of interest and research include Software Engineering and Design, Artificial Intelligence (Text mining and Sentiment analysis), Web based applications Development, Programming languages and Systems Programming, Mobile application development, Database Design and Development, and Information Systems.
Prior to working at Lancaster University Ghana, he had been an Instructor for the University of Ghana Department of Computer Science short courses since 2017, handling various courses such as Ethical Hacking and Information Security, Oracle Database Management Systems, Systems Administration using Linux, MSSQL Server Administration and Certificate in software development. He also served as a Tutor for the Institute of Distance Education, University of Ghana, handling programming and mobile application development courses. Fredrick was an Adjunct Lecturer at Valley View University Ghana, where he handled courses such as C++ programming for engineering students, Mobile Computing and Advance Database Development. He has been an ICT Assistant Examiner for The West Africa Examination Council for nearly 5 years.
He worked as a Software Engineer and a Programmer at Union Systems Global-An International Financial Software Company with clients such as Sierra Leone Commercial Bank, GN Bank in Liberia, Best Point Savings and Loans amongst others. He was the Lead manager and technician of the Issues logger Software – managing and making major technical changes in the logger that deals with task tracking, changes and resolution of projects being tracked. He was also a Lead developer and Technician of the Email Server Template Management System, a member of the Channels (USSD and API Team) and Enterprise application team.
He has Industrial experience after working shortly at Scancom Limited (Mtn Ghana)-Head office in the Information Systems-Enterprise Applications and Database Management division as an Application Developer and Database Administrator. He also has industrial experience from the University of Ghana Computing Systems (UGCS) -Networking division and was part of the team that installed the Campus area network for the entire university.
