Students and Staff of Lancaster University Ghana, held an HIV/AIDS awareness concert aimed at students from neighboring universities and the East Legon residents.
The event, which falls under the Universities Community Engagement Office, promoted the education and reduction of stigma around HIV and AIDS patients.
The concert helped educate people about HIV and AIDS as well as reinforcing the message that everyone is entitled to a healthy and positive lifestyle, society needs to do away with the stigma associated with HIV.
The students were reminded that there are 3 approaches to staying HIV free: abstinence, being faithful and using protection.
Attendants of the event were entertained by very talented students through song and dance that served as curtain raisers for renowned Ghanaian artistes: MzVee, Kings Kid and Luther.
In addition, the student media club directed and shot a short film that reinforced the fact that there is life after HIV infection and society should stop the stigma, and that regular testing is the best way to beat the scourge.
